I took my one of my midterms and i think i did okay, but we'll soon see. Contracts is tomorrow, and as stated before I HATE CONTRACTS. My live has totally become law. My studygroup and I try to go out to eat and stuff also, but all we end up talking about is law. I can't get away from it. It's even been to the point where i'm waking up and the first thing i'm thinking about is "offer, counter offer, acceptance, option contracts, blah blah blah" besides that fact that all of my prof's are strictly socratic professors

I'm so tired of people. Not people in general, but those who always say that they are going to do something but yet it never happens. That has been happening to me alot lately. It gets SO annoying to continue to hear folks say somethin, and yet never follow through. It will be appreciated. Along with my schedule, came a hand book. Within the had book had the policies, honor code, orientation info, assignments due at orientation, and first week assignments. Although it would be nice to finish off the rest of my summer vacation doing nothing, I don't think that that is going to happen.

Hi Everybody,

I'm happy because everything has went as planned. My couches came yesterday around 12 or 1. I am getting more and more excited about making the big move. Along with that excitement comes nervousness. Some people, from the online Intro to Law course, have received their schedules because they were sent out on the 1st. I live in DC so mine should here maybe on Tuesday. All and all, I can't wait to set up my new place. I think I have everything. My mom told me to stop ordering stuff (I think she is scared that I am going to buy the things that she wants to get me).

Oh yea, my family decided to stay in Lansing an extra night. We figured that would be too much work to drive up on friday. Do all of the moving in and setting up on saturday and then they leave sunday morning. That is a lot.

Something else has just popped in my mine. I usually type different ideas as they pop in my head, that is why there is really no standard flow. I do, however, type much better when I am at school or when I really need to, this is more of a relaxed hobby. Anyway back to the idea:

I think I am seeing a difference between how I felt about college and how I feel about starting law school. In college I was just worried about passing but yet I got pretty good grades, mostly A's and B's. But lawschool, the pressure is really on because everyone is waiting to hear how things go during school. I REALLY have to learn the material in lawschool, whereas in undergrad I just studied the night before. What I am doing now is directly related to my career, this has really added pressure. Besides that, it's expensive as hell, I can't go, and then get kicked out or anything because school is on my dime and it is not cheap. That is just a little added pressure that I have now that I didn't have in undergrad. Maybe it will go away once i start school, we shall see. :-\ By The Way 19 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone,
Cooley told me the other day that they will be sending out our schedules today. I'm in DC so I should receive my schedule sometime next week. I think i'm only taking 9 credits each term on during the first year due to financial reasons. Besides, that will give me more time to focus on the classes i'm taking. If i continue to do 9 credits each term for the 3 terms then i should be finished still in 3 years (well 3 years and a extra term) I'll be 24 turning 25 when i graduate and i'm 21 now, so that will still be pretty good. As of now, I have not received any feedback from the case brief that I submitted, i wonder how long it takes them to respond. It's only been a week so that's not too bad.

Yaaaayy.. Luckly it's only $585, i've heard of people who has much worse. I just sent my credit card company 200 and I will pay the rest off soon. I sent off my 1st month rent payment last week. I purchased a tracking number so I know when it was received by the leasing office. They received it on Thursday. Today I call and they said it hasn't been posted but they have a stack of mail there. The way my luck usually goes, my payment won't be in that stack and then it will grow into a big problem of where is my 560 dollars.

All I am goin to say is blogger sucks lol. Anyway how is everyone doing. Me, i'm doing okay. I Just turned in my brief for feedback from school. It would be just my luck that they respond by say "are you sure you read the lesson" or better yet "are you sure law school is for you" lol. Sike I don't think I did that bad lol. The rest of the couse is going okay besides the fact that cooley sent me more cases for the jump start program. Sadly to say, I won't make the program because both days i will be in the process of moving to lansing.

Oh, as far as moving plans:
Last day of work is 8/15/03
I'm picking up the penske truck on 8/21/03 (that following thursday)
Me and my family are heading for lansing the morning of 8/22/03
My lease starts on 8/23/03 at noon ( so i'll be moving in at this time)

Oh yea, I forgot, i've been hearing on the infamous discussion board on the cooley online class that our schedules will be comming out the first week in August. This really feels real now. I'm getting more and more nervous by the day yet more excited to balance it out.

Anyway, to continue:
My house phone should be activated on 8/22/03
The comcast cable guy will be at my apt on 8/23/03 from 1- 5 to install my cable (sat will be a busy/yet exciting day)

Everyone wants to come with me to help me move.. as of right now, my mom, dad, aunt, grandmom (she won't be helping tho) is comming up with me. We will be stopping in pennsylvania to let my sister, brother in law, brother, and nieces and nephews, follow us up there (yaaaayyyy that's more help)...

Well that's everything i can think of right now. I hope everyone had a good/safe 4th of July, I sure did. I didn't really do much other then watch the fireworks.

As an update, I received my password to the Introduction to Law School course. I'm not sure if people just don't care or are just not as bright as they should be. The instrustions to the course says that u have to click the link that says "Introduction to law school - prelaw". That link wasn't there yet (probably because we really are not supposed to get our PW's until next week). Out of bordom and curiousity, i clicked on a simular link that said "Intro to law- (professors name was here)" Long story short, this was the online intro class from last term, it even has on the site that the briefs are due by April 11, yet people are on the discussion board introducing theirselves and everything as if it was the right course.. whoknowz.

Oh yea, i changed my moving date from the 23 back to the 22nd (friday) just so i can be sure to get there on time to pick up my key to my apt. I have almost everything that i need to buy for my apt so that is all set and ready.
I will talk to everyone later.

It's the summer before law school. I'm not exactly sure if it will be more benefitial to concentrate in a more general area or a more specific area. It seems as if specific areas pay more money (that's if you work for the government). And around here, there are so many government jobs (DC). Or should I focus more on a general area so I may serve a wide range of clients. I guess it all depends on what I really want to focus on in law. But a portion of it depends on my salary because I will need to make enough to be able to pay off my loans and still live somewhat comfortable. Do you all think that a more specific concentration will limit me in looking for jobs or help me?

Other then that, I sent off the money for the Introduction to Law School online course today and I should receive my password word sometime during the week of the 7th.

Hello everyone,

I have about 10min left at work and what better thing to do then type on here. Well the talk of the town right now is the opinion of the U.S. Supreme Court. I'm not going to talk about it because it is already being discussed by everyone else.

I called Cooley today and they sent me another form so I can participate in the intro to law school online course. I better not lose this one (damn i really need to get organized).

Today at work I found a very interesting site for those who will be attending or those who are currently attending law school Http://www.lawnerds.com It is a very interesting and enlightening site, check it out.

I really don't have too much to say right now, maybe because law school hasn't started or yet. Well, come july 7th, i will be starting this course and we will see how it goes. Im rushing through this blog so i can go home ( need to clean off my desk) therefore i will talk to everyone later. Yesterday on my way home from work, i stopped at the furniture place and put an entertainment center on layaway since the other one tried to make me pay more. On July 5th, I should have my entertainment center and my dining room set home.

As for this morning, i think i am going to dedicate my morning to looking for my introduction to law school paper so i can sign up for the class. OH yea, i've been having something on my mind lately and i think i will share it with you all. Lately i've been thinking about if i should transfer schools after my first year at cooley. Why? Because lately i've been reading and it's starting to sink in that maybe graduating from cooley is not looked upon very highly by the legal profession. I'm not sure, but I don't want the cooley name to hinder me from obtaining certain jobs.

It's kinda stupid, but reading stuff like that over and over again kinda makes you believe it. Before I went to lunch yesterday, that was what was on my mind heavly. While on lunch tho, the car right in front of me had a sticker on his car that said "Thomas Cooley Law School" and it kinda made me feel better so i don't know. What do ya'll think?

I need to make a movie about my fukked up life lol. Well first of all, remember the entertainment center I said I ordered.... yea..that one. Well, it costed me 90 something dollars. Well later that same night, i get an email from them saying how "because of the oddly shapped furniture that i have, it will have to be trucked from cali to dc" because of it being trucked, they would have to add on a 89 dollar flat trucking fee. I was like, forrget that, how are they gonna tack on a fee after i have already given them my card info. Well i told them to cancel the whole order and they did. I've been checking my account everyday to make sure that there are no charges on there.

Another thing, remember how my money is due for the intro to law school online class. Well i lost the first paper that we had to turn in and Cooley faxed me another one. Needless to say, sortof misplaced that one too. (I really need to get organized before school starts, REALLY). I hope i find that paper because it's due by the 30th and i don't want to call them to have them fax me another one.

As of right now it is very wet and gloomy outside, it's been raining in DC alot and our weather is way below the average for this time of the year. Tomorrow i have a bday get to gether to go to. I have to go early because i also have a wedding to go to and i think i may end up in philly later that night. We'll see. During lunch today i think i may go pick up these floor lamps that i've had my eyes on for the longest ( i really need to get on the ball because these months are flying by.

Well as you all know I am at work right now and i actually have some work to do right now so i will talk to everyone later on.

P.S. I never realized how expensive it is to move. Moving to your own place costs so much money because you need everything. Well today i ordered an entertainment center so i can have somewhere to put my tv (although it's not a necessity, it is something that i wanted). My money is soon due for my Introduction to Law School online course. I think i will send them the money for it tomorrow.

Cooley requires that we send them an official final transcript and i had my school send it to them. But it takes 10 days to have the transcript sent. (I"m so happy i graduated from that stupid school, they are sooo slow and lazy) Must also have a transcript sent to the LSDAS service so they can calculate my final gpa.

On other news, i briefly heard something about some riots somewhere in Michigan. I am going to check it out and let you all know what i find. I should soon be getting information in the mail from my apartment in michigan so I can make my first rent payment. Over the past few weeks i've been going to furniture store after furniture store looking for living room couches for my big move on August 23rd. Well today, during lunch, i went to this particular furniture store for the second time, and I ended up putting my living room couches on layaway. I didn't want to purchase it right now for two reasons: (1) I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY IT ALL OUT and (2) i don't want a living room set to sit at the bottom of my parents basement until August (i'll never hear the end of their mouths). I will probably get it out in 2 or 3weeks, needless to say, i am excited because i have almost all of the main things for my apt. After the couches, i will just have to get little odds n ends. Well I need to get to work for once.. ttyl

Good Morning,

As I am sure you have guessed, I am at work. My job has a software which detects the sites that you go to and it will sent them to what ever department if they are bad sights.. Well when i got back to work there were porno sites minimized on my computer. I had to tell my supervisor so she doesn't think it was me. (I guess i should start actually shutting down my computer so that department can see when i left and when someone logged back on.) Another thing i can do is to start signing on under my log on instead of the universal log on, but the programs i use for work is only available under the universal log on (i am going to have to see about getting that changed).

I finally have a commenting system up and running on this thing thanks to a fellow Cooley Law student. (Check Out his blog, it's on my link, the law student journal one). Now I just have to work on getting my site out there for people to read. (Anyone have any tips.... Anyone?!? :-\

Another interesting thing is that one of my friends had an interview for Hoftra's Grad program and he got it. I'm happy because he totally beat the odds of succeeding. If you all want, i'll explain in detail.

As for law school, everything is pretty much at a stand still until next wednesday. Wednesday is when i will send off my money for the Cooley Online Intro to Law School Course. They have two Phases of this couse. Phase I is free and it is online at www.cooley.edu and then you can click the link for the into to law school course. Phase II is considered to be a little more intense and it costs $50.00. That's not a bad price to pay, even if it's just to get the slightest head start on law school. Under Phase II, you are required to brief cases and turn them in, you then get feedback from the school (although i'm not sure who gives the feed back... it could be the secretary lol, i hope not though, we'll see)

Oh yea, something interesting about my job, i think they are getting sued for discrimination. I am going to find articles, I will keep you all updated on it. (maybe i'll go into employment law, i don't know) Well I will speak somemore later, i actually have a little bit of work to do today. Feel free to leave comments.

Hi again, I am back from Target. My co-workers said that it was a huge target and blah blah blah. It was okay, nothing more and nothing less. I did find some stuff though that I would like to take with me to Michigan so I definately will be going back. I also bought this SIM Pack which has sim city, sim theme park, and 3 other games with it. As for now, i'm just waiting for the clock to hit 4:30, i'm ready to go home...

Hello Everyone. Today, once again I am here at work. I can't say that I am not doing anything this time because I have actually been very busy (maybe my supervisor found my last blog).

As for my thoughts on lawschool, i am trying my best to speak with people who attend cooley now to get some idea of the new world i am about to enter. If you all know anybody, please have them email me at Whoknowz03@aol.com. *Thought PoPUp* I think i might go this new, bigger then ever Target today to see if i can find some floor lamps *Thought PoPUp End*

Yes, this is the new law school thing that is on my mind. My educational funds are all ready to go, my housing is all ready to go as well except for one thing. I HAVE NO FURNITURE. On the days where i don't want to go to the library to study, it will be mighty difficult to study on the floor of an unfurnished apt so i better start looking for stuff. Well actually, it isn't that bad, as of right now, i have my coffee and end tables (they are very unique, it actually stands on circles, i'll add a link to the pictures of my furniture when i find out how to do it). I also bought my dining room set. All i need now is some couches and other things to get my living room ready. (I'm taking my bedroom set from ma's and dad's house; they won't miss it) Besides, they already have plans for my bed room when i leave.

Does anyone have any idea of where i could find some reasonable priced sofas, these stores are out of their mind.

Day by day I become more excited about going to law school (although i have a strong feeling that i will regret this later). I think i am going to start reading cases and learning the language of the law this summer (hopefully it will help). Maybe i'm the only one who feels like this, but, it seems as if i ask10 people who i should prepare for law school, i get 10 different answers. I'm so confused, maybe i'll just do everything. Well I think I am going to go to lunch now and check out the Target. I will let you all know how it goes when i get back. I figured i'd try this blog thing. I've read lots of blogs from people who are in law school now and I decided to try one of my own (lets see how long this lasts). First I guess you all should know a little bit about me, maybe some of you will be able to relate. I am from the md/dc area. I just graduated from college with a degree in Political Science. Like many of us "poly sci" majors, the next thing is law school. I am a 21 year old male and I am going to Thomas M. Cooley Law School this fall. Yea I know, my first thoughts were the same, but I do have my reasons for choosing this school.
To bring everybody up to speed on my law school quest, as of right now, I am just waiting for my schedule to come which probably won't get here until August (so I have a while.) Everything else, including funds for tuition has finally been taken care of (and believe me, that was a TASK). Oh yea, I just remembered, I need to have my final transcript, from undergrad, sent to Cooley, as well as to LSDAS. (I just i better give them a call).

Right now I am actually at my internship, hopeing my supervisor doesn't come in because I am not doing anything right now, although at the bottom of the screen I have "Microsoft Word" ready to go up as soon as I need it to.

In regards to law school, I am on a never-ending quest to figure out the "Law School Experience" I've read how law schools forces you to change the way you think/ "think like a lawyer." I guess we all will see as soon as it's time for me to leave. Here is a funny little story I guess I will leave you all with:

Just the other day I had to go to my old job (from when I was much younger) "Kmart." I saw a lady there who i used to work with (she still works there, Poor Thing) and she asked how I was doing and everything. I told her that I had just graduated. She then began to explain to me that it is the real word now and there will be no more fun and blah blah blah. (I think she assumed that I Just graduated high school." I don't remember how, but somehow she realized that I had graduated college, so then, once again, she explains that it is REALLY the real world now and that there is no more fun and blah blah blah. I then tell her "Well I have 3 more years of school to do and then I will be finish because I am going to Law school" Maybe she felt that I was wasting my time in school because she then tells me "Boy, Times is hard, you 'ain't got time to be sittin up in no school" Maybe i'm dumb, but i thought school wasn't a waste of time.

Anyway, I will write to you all later on today or tomorrow, ttyl and Welcome.
